T’way Air Strengthens ESG Management with the Introduction of New In-flight Meal Containers Made from Sustainable Forest Resources

T’way Air is set to strengthen its ESG management by introducing newly developed in-flight meal containers made from sustainable forest resources in October this year.

The new containers are made from pulp mold, a material produced by separating the cellulose fibers of wood. Unlike conventional C-PET or aluminum containers, T’way Air’s containers have been independently developed by the airline and are made from timber sourced from sustainably managed forests. They have also obtained FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certification.

These eco-friendly containers not only minimize environmental impact but also offer excellent durability and maintain their shape even under high temperatures, improving overall user convenience.

Starting in October, the new pulp-mold in-flight containers will be first applied to pre-order meal options on international flights departing from Incheon and Gimpo, including menu items such as Healthy Bibimbap, Chicken Teriyaki Fried Rice, Hamburg Steak, and Meatball Fusilli Pasta. T’way Air plans to gradually expand their use to international routes departing from Daegu and Busan as well.

Since signing an MOU with the Korea Forest Service in 2023 to promote carbon neutrality and ESG management, T’way Air has continued various forest preservation activities, such as conducting forest fire prevention experiences for children every spring and fall, selling eco-friendly forest products on board, and participating in tree-planting events on Arbor Day to support carbon neutrality.
