"Plastic packaging regulations are now being enforced in developed markets like Europe starting this year. We aim to provide small and medium-sized businesses with a one-stop solution for plastic-free packaging."

Min Sung Lee, CEO of REVATION, a startup that has developed a one-stop manufacturing solution for carbon neutrality, shared this in an interview with Maeil Business Newspaper on the 11th.

REVATION not only offers customizable sustainable packaging for clients but also developed a program called RESTUDIO, which calculates and visualizes the carbon reduction effect of each package. The official version of RESTUDIO is scheduled for launch in June.

A specialist in CMF (Color, Material, Finish), Lee spent over a decade researching packaging design at a major cosmetics company before founding REVATION in 2021 after recognizing the business potential of low-carbon packaging.

REVATION’s strength lies in its high-precision, luxury-quality paper mold technology. For example, the company produced a paper-based case for Nostalgia, a high-end Hanok-style hotel brand's Bukchon Makgeolli, that can withstand a load of 1.3 kg despite being made of paper. The company has also successfully developed paper-based packaging for reusable eyeglass cases and even high-end medical device packaging, which demands both hygiene and structural strength.

Last year, Lee designed a luxury package for the premium ginseng brand UNGSAM, becoming the first Korean to win the prestigious Avant-Garde Design Award at PCD—a major international packaging competition. The design, inspired by mountains where the ginseng was grown, featured a sculptural paper mold and rich visual cues evoking the ginseng’s intensity—earning comparisons to miniature art pieces.

At PCD Paris, the world’s largest packaging design exhibition held this past January, major global brands such as Dolce & Gabbana and P&G showed strong interest in REVATION's products.

This interest opened doors for international business expansion in France (Grenoble) and Canada.

Lee stated, "We provide consulting and execution for reducing plastic usage by replacing conventional plastics with materials like paper, wood, and bioplastics such as limestone blends. REVATION owns over 20 patents and is composed of a team of experts in materials and product development."
